Technically it is 3 gauge steel and the average residential mailbox is made from very thin 26 gauge steel or possibly even lighter 28 gauge steel. We like to call these big box store mailboxes tin cans because the metal is so thin its much like a soda can. For gauge thickness in steel the smaller the number the thicker the steel.

To understand this a little more, think of it like this: 1/4” steel (3 gauge) is more than 13 times stronger than 12-gauge. 12 gauge is more than adequate for most mailbox needs and many of ours are made from 14 gauge, so if you buy this locking mailbox made from 3 gauge steel it is 13 time more stronger than most home safes which are made from 12 to 14 gauge steel.

This high security mailboxes feature generous 12” x 24” x 23” overall dimensions to hold thick envelopes, magazines and small packages. The 11” x 11” x 3” drop opening allows insertion of thicker mail and small boxes up to 3” tall. The maximum package size it will allow is 10" wide by 10" long by 3 inches thick.

The 2” continuous weld steel hinge and 3/16” reinforced access door keep pry attempts at bay. A commercial grade vault lock with two keys secures the contents from snooping hands. The box can hold mail and packages up to 10 inches wide and deep and 3 inches tall, for maximum capacity. An optional outgoing mail tray and flag can be added using the drop down options below the price.

Finished with a durable powder coated finish, these mailboxes look as great as they function. Available colors include classic black and gray, or customize the color to match your home or business.
